MACHINE STOPS
The canter operator will ensure that when stops occur at machine centers they:
Check alarms for conditions that may be causing the stoppage.
Check PC’s for blockages or unblocked and compare that against log/cant/lumber location.
Shut the saws or debarker ring down if cant or log is stuck in the saws or debarker ring and operator is unable to get cant/log moving.
Always check alarm and pc status first prior to restarting equipment - assuming it is a reoccurring problem that simply requires neutral forward can cause damage to equipment and down-time.
Communicate the cause of issues/stops with utility, supervisor and maintenance personnel - PC blocked, scanner dirty, low air pressure, etc.
